Determined...

Determined to get some quality work done tonight (unlike last night when I fell asleep in front of Q&A). Think this will help?

Huge coffee cup with wall mounts
For sale for the bargain price of $1,400. Wall mounts? Really?

Friday Fun Day

My daughter has Friday fun days at her school. As near as I can tell they're just the same as regular Fridays but with toast. Apparently toast is very special when the teacher makes it. She also has a Wacky Wednesday, which is the same as a regular Wednesday except for the odd socks. I'm thinking of instigating Mummy Went Mad and Quit Monday, but instead decided to do something for Friday Fun Day. More realistic I think.

I just found that voting in the Cover Cafe's annual best cover competition is now open. I just had a blast and wasted some time over there voting and checking out last year's winners. It's interesting to see what it is about covers that make people want to buy the book... or not. Check out the worst cover category. Here's one of last year's finalists, Damned Delicious and Dangerous, otherwise entitled "Is that lightning in your pants or are you just happy to see me?"

I feel sorry for some authors, I really do. All the hard work on the book and someone makes your cover look like... that.

That's One Megapussi

We’re getting to the pointy end of things, with Sunset Knight due to be released on Tuesday (late that night in Oz). Coincidentally, this is on Melbourne Cup day, so it’s a party day all round. I think I’ll run a competition, not sure exactly what yet. I think it might involve bare chested men, but surely that’s not a surprise.

It’s also the 1st of November today. This is Movember for some who choose to grow a mustache to raise money for The Prostate Cancer Foundation and Beyond Blue. Check out http://au.movember.com/. Personally I don’t mind a bit of a ‘stash on the right guy. I was a religious Magnum PI watcher. Go Tom. A bit of face fuzz also works for Johnny Depp, but then, what wouldn't work for Johnny Depp?

For the rest of us, meaning the crazy writer types among us, November means it’s Nanowrite time again. I’m not doing it exactly, which is to say I’m not signing up or planning to write 50,000 words. This November’s goal is to write every day for the month of November, even if it’s only 100 words some days. My intention is to get into a proper writing routine. Yes, that old bug bear. I can’t help but think if I just keep trying to write in a sensible, responsible manner it might grow on me. Stranger things have happened, like these translations, for instance. Enjoy.

Should I send it to the Board of Tourism?

Weight lost this week: NONE!!!! GRRRR!
Excersise days: one
Ferrero Rochers consumed: Ah, I'd rather not say.
Light bulb moments: 1 - hey, perhaps points two and three have something to do with point one!
Bloody easter.
