Does Size Matter

I've blogged over at Samhain about the issue of size in romance novels. It's not the kind of size issue you think, naughty girl. If you want to read my mad rant about boobs just pop over there.

Yes, you read me right. Boobs.

Is Three a Crowd?

I got a lovely review for Sunset Knight over at Book Junkie. Brande had some wonderful things to say, my favourite being:

"This is Brody and Lana's story filled with love and heartbreak as Brody moves past his fear of rejection and takes a leap of faith with Lana. This is just plain delicious and captivating until the very end." 5 Stars

That's going straight to the pool room (Ah, I mean website :)). She also reviewed Chasing Sunset, which she didn't like as much. For the most part this seemed to be because she fell in love with Brody and wanted him to get a HEA. Hmm. (Lucky for her I wrote one eh?). This is an inherent problem with menage stories, someone gets left out at the end. Unless you end it with a triad relationship. This however, at least for me, requires a huge suspension of disbelief. I think building a successful relationship between two people, either male/female, male/male or female/female, is difficult enough. You add a third person in there and expect that to last forever? I have trouble buying it.
Thoughts? Know any authors who make the triad HEA totally believable? Bear in mind that if they're all werewolves you've given me a whole other plausibility factor to deal with :).

Cheers,

I'm a Smart Bitch

Just about anyone who's met can confirm this. However on this occasion I'm not referring to my razor-sharp tongue and general snarky demeanour. I'm referring to my recent appearance on the Smart Bitches blog. Check it out.

There's a rather annoying reason for my moment of fame, however. Apparently no one in the US has been able to purchase any of Samhain's releases from last week through Amazon. The titles are 'blocked'. Seriously. I feel like DH Lawrence when the pillars of society shunned him for writing Lady Chatterly's Lover. I mean, BLOCKED. How bloody insulting.

The good news is if you have tried to purchase any of last weeks releases without success (of course I assume it would be MY book you've been trying to get, not Lorelei's. Not like the Smart Bitches who made no bones about which book THEY were interested in. Sigh), you're in luck. If you post on their blog you're in the running to win a book of your choice from those that have been sadly unavailable through Amazon--Amazon, Schmamazon. It took me months to get them to put up my cover art for Born Again Virgin too. Clearly they have a vendetta.

So if you still haven't purchased Sunset Knight, there's a chance you could win it over there. If you have already purchased my masterpiece, thanks! Maybe you want to pop over to Smart Bitches and win, oh, I don't know, LORELEI'S book. Go on, be like everyone else. I'm not upset. I'm not jealous of the massively popular, wonderfully talented, No 1 bestseller, Diva of the divine that is Lorelei James. NOT AT ALL.

Rant over. Envy subsiding with ingestion of chocolate...

Thought It Wouldn't Happen

1. All Jacked Up by Lorelei James
2. Burn For Me by Dee Tenorio
3. For His Eyes Only by Avery Beck
4. Sunset Knight by Sami Lee
5. Protecting Phoebe by Shelli Stevens

Actually made it into the top five. Yay! I was just relieved my baby made its way onto the list at all, so I'm particularly stoked with top five.

Wanted to take a copy of the list and savour the moment because today (tonight) is new release night, so a whole new stack of books are about to bump me off my perch. The author to watch is my fellow Aussie, occasional critique wench and email pal Jess Dee, whose book, A Question of Love, comes out any moment now. Congratulations Jess! I look forward to seeing your book up there soon!

Why Doesn't Dicko Like James?

Is he feeling threatened by his youth and vitality or something? Okay, so he's not the best performer they've ever had, he doesn't quite hit the high notes of Stan or Hayley. And no, Nathan should not have gone home tonight because he's been a better, more consistent performer. But Jeez Dicko. STOP PICKING ON THE KID. Who can resist this face?

Having said that, go Hayley :). Chicks rock.

This is the vital subject matter that occupies my mind on a Sunday night.

PS. I hit number 6 on the MBaM bestseller list today, which is nice.

I'll keep the comp going for a few days and announce the winner here and in the Samhain Cafe. Good luck!
